About gallstone disease

The site provides information on the anatomy of the gall bladder, its physiological functions in humans and the patho-physiology of stone formation.

There is information on the effects of stones in the biliary tree and the possible complications which may ensue. This provides a rationale for offering surgery for patients with gallstone disease.

Finally different aspects of gall bladder surgery are discussed including ambulatory or day case surgery, together with the possible complications of surgery.

A guide to recovery is also included.
